1 | Frankenmuth
Home to the ‘World’s Largest Christmas Store’ and miles of shops, this is a great way to spend your weekend. All of the buildings and houses are German themed making it seem like you actually might be in Germany. Come here in October and celebrate Oktoberfest. You can also stay in a water park while visiting.
2 | Great Lakes
Michigan is known as ‘The Great Lake State’ for a reason. It is bordered by four of the five great lakes and has more than 11,000 inland lakes. Michigan beaches are also popular for Petoskey stone hunting and for huge sand dunes. There are tons of cool beaches and places to check out right on the water.
3 | Mackinac Island
Visit Mackinac Island. Mackinac Island is one of the best places you will ever visit. It’s a quaint little Island off of the straits of Mackinac city between Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. The island itself is only about 3.75 square miles, yet it brings in thousands of tourists and seasonal workers each year. It is known for their homemade fudge and other treats. Going to Mackinac Island is like stepping back in time. All motorized vehicles are banned, only allowing bicycles and horse transportation. In order to get to the island, you have to either take a ferry, plane, or snowmobile during the winter.

4 | Michigan Adventures Amusement Park
If you want to ride some roller coasters and water rides, Michigan Adventures is the place to do it. It’s not quite as large as Cedar Point, but it’s certainly a lot of fun. There are 250-acres and the largest amusement park in the state.
5 | Detroit & Binder Park Zoo
The Detroit Zoo is home to more than 2,400 animals of 255 species covering over 125 acres. They are one of the front-runners of animal welfare and have so many animals and things to look at, it’s really a must see.
If you want to get up close and personal, Binder Park Zoo is the best place to go. Although it’s smaller than the Detroit zoo, you can touch the giraffes and feed them. They have a ton of other animals also.
